.SYNOPSIS...
Hot weather expected Wednesday through Friday with widespread
moderate HeatRisk for the valleys, mountains, and High Desert with

expected Friday through early next week. Night and morning
coastal low clouds and fog will spread into portions of the
western valleys late each night early this week and again for next
weekend.
&&
.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...
Evening update...
Areas of smoke from the large Gifford Fire in San Luis
Obispo/Santa Barbara Counties and the Gold and Rosa Fires in our
mountains continue to spread over the region this evening. Patchy
low clouds are developing off the coast and should fill in across
the coastal areas by Tuesday morning as a coastal eddy develops.
No changes to the forecast this evening.
Previous discussion...
Marine layer low clouds and fog are expected to remain persistent
each night and morning but become shallower into Thursday. This
will keep low clouds and fog more confined to coastal areas. As
the marine layer becomes a little shallower, there could be
locally dense fog near the mesas late each night.
Tuesday will be a degree or two warmer for most locations with
additional warming expected for Wednesday and Thursday as the high
pressure aloft over the southwestern United States strengthens.
Thursday will be the peak of the heat, with temperatures 5 to 10
degrees above the seasonal average. High temperatures on Thursday
will range from the mid 70s to lower 80s near the coast to the upper
90s to 105 for the Inland Empire and 114 to 118 for the lower
deserts. Highs in the mountains will be in the mid-80s at higher
elevations and in the 90s to locally 100 degrees for elevations 5500
ft and below. Overnight low temperatures will also remain elevated
for inland areas, preventing overnight relief from the heat. Make
sure you`re staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous outdoor activity
during the hottest part of the day. Friday will see a few degrees of
cooling but highs will remain 5 to 7 degrees above average for
inland locations.
Conditions will continue to cool through the weekend with high
temperatures for next Sunday around average for most areas and
around 5 degrees above average for the deserts. Night and morning
coastal low clouds will spread into portions of the western valleys
late each night for next weekend.

.AVIATION...
050345Z....Coasts/Western Valleys...Low clouds remain largely patchy
and offshore at this hour, but should eventually increase in
coverage and push back ashore by 07-09z Tuesday. These clouds will
generally be based 700-1200ft MSL with VIS reduced to 1-5SM over
higher coastal terrain and elevated, far western valleys. Clouds
scatter back to the beaches by 16-17z Tuesday but a weak coastal
eddy may help the clouds linger through 17-18z across portions of
coastal San Diego County.
Inland Valleys/Mountains/Deserts...VFR conditions prevail through
Tuesday afternoon.
Smoke aloft (mostly above 10000 ft MSL but patches down to 5000ft
MSL possible) continues to pass over Southern California from the
Gifford Fire to our distant northwest, persisting tonight and likely
through Tuesday. No surface VIS issues from smoke are expected.
&&
.MARINE...
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Saturday.
&&
.SKYWARN...
Skywarn activation is not requested. However weather spotters are
encouraged to report significant weather conditions.
